Doing Business in Saraland

The City of Saraland prides itself on being a pro-business community. Regardless of the type of business, we always welcome new businesses that are interested in making our community a better place to live!  City business licenses are granted through the Office of the City Clerk in Saraland. Fees vary depending on the nature of a business as required by State and City Codes. A Business License Application can be completed online or by coming into City Hall, located at 716 Saraland Boulevard South.

Obtaining a business license and acquiring the necesasry permits and inspections are some of the first steps to starting a new business in Saraland.  To apply for a City of Saraland business license, a list of the following items will need to be completed and returned to the City Clerks office in Saraland.  If the business will be physically located within Saraland, the items in italics will also need to be submitted along with the application:

  • Completed City of Saraland Business License Application
  • Copy of owner or responsible party's driver license
  • Certificate of Liability or $5,000 Performance Bond (only for required professions)

  • 911 Form

The cost of a Saraland business license is based upon the business' gross revenues.  The minmum license is $100.00 with a $12.00 issuing fee, for a total of $112.00.  The license amount increases based on the type of business and the gross revenues, as stated above.  To calculate the price of your business license, see the license rate schedule.  Once you locate the schedule number that coordinates with your business, multiply the License Rate by your gross revenues.  If that number is under $100.00, then your total license will be $112.00 (including the issuing fee).  If the number is over $100.00, your license will be that plus the $12 issuing fee.  If your gross revenue exceeds one million dollars please use this calculation method to determine your regressed gross revenue.
