The Saraland Fire Rescue Department is comprised of the following Divisions: Command Responsible for the day to day operation of the department. Responsibilities include staff management, education, training, budget preparation, logistics, and planning. The Command staff coordinates and supervises the Divisions below. Members of the Command staff include the Chief, Assistant Chief and a Logistics Officer. The Command Staff respond to major calls when needed and are on call 24 hours a day. Operations Division Areas of responsibility include: • Emergency Medical Response •Fire Suppression •HazMat Response •Rescue - Extrication •Special Operations The members of the Operations Division work 24 hours on duty, then 48 hours off duty. If you see a fire apparatus, you see operations personnel. Public Education Division Responsible for the promotion of Life Safety Education to children and the elderly. Fire Inspection Division Responsible for the enforcement of fire codes and ordinances. Also assists local builders with plans review to ensure building are built to code.
